Vilte is a versatile editor specialising in film with a focus on social justice, contemporary storytelling, international appeal and art programmes.
Editing begins before cameras start rolling and I enjoy getting involved in the creative process from the very start. Whether you want to chat over your story arc, visual approach, editing in multiple languages, what's the minimum b-roll you may need or come up with something truly unique, let's talk!
Even if it's a one-day turnaround social media clip or a lengthy collaboration with a complex team of producers, animators, composers, and sound designers, I’m confident working on both, small and large-scale productions.
I have edited over 500 short form pieces for nationwide campaigns, training materials and animations for Scottish Government, Scottish Documentary Institute, Scottish Women’s Aid, Rape Crisis Scotland, MND Scotland, Scottish Refugee Council and many others. Number of films have won awards, and some were developed into feature films for broadcast and cinema.
Six years ago, I was nominated by the Royal Television Society for Best Editing, for my work on a small but truly hearty community story for MG Alba ‘Wee Govan Pipers’.
I’ve cut films in Premiere Pro, Avid, Resolve, FCP 7/X and can do basic graphics AE.
Outside of work I collaborate with artists Vernon and Burns, with whom I’ve created two films/performances for Glasgow International Festival. I also document live performances for an experimental radio station Radiophrenia.
BBC Alba, Creative Scotland, Scottish Documentary Institute, Scottish Government, NHS, Rape Crisis Scotland, Co-op's UK, Glasgow Life, Samaritans, DCAF Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance, MND Scotland, Barnardo's, Wheatley Group, See Me, GAMH, Scotmid, Scottish Women's Aid, Shelter, Scottish Human Rights Council, Edinburgh University, Enable, Women's Support Project, Foundation Scotland, Energy4All, Scottish Fair Trade Forum, Glasgow University, LEAP Sports, Poverty Alliance, Scottish Refugee Council, Police Scotland, mPower, Maryhill Integration Centre, Hidden Gardens, Engender and many more.
‘I was pretty daunted by the project I’d undertaken, so it was a great delight to find that I’d struck gold with my editor, Vilte Vaitkute. Not only did she have a great width of skill and experience, but also a depth of intelligence which quickly brough her to the heart of our complex film. Then there was her musicality, which had a profound influence on the rhythm and tone of our production. Does all this sound a bit arty-farty? Perhaps, but Vilte is also well grounded with a clear understanding of audience expectation. She is a ‘people person’, is driven by desire to communicate and inform and entertain. She is also cheerful and optimistic. I can’t recommend her highly enough.’
